Installation of curved roof panels
VIAVAC has developed a special vacuum lifter for the company Neptunus, headquartered in Kessel. Neptunus is the specialist in the design, rental and construction of tents for events, as well as disassemblable buildings. From 10 m² to 20,000 m² or even more, from basic to luxurious. For the quick and safe installation of curved panels, Neptunus was searching for a special vacuum lifter.
They needed a vacuum lifter with which long sandwich roof panels up to a maximum length of 24 metres could be mounted in a single operation. The vacuum lifter needed to be quick and easy to adjust to the length of the sandwich panels. An extra requirement was that the panels had to be able to be installed both straight and curved.
For the design, VIAVAC – in consultation with Hans Eijlers, director of Neptunus – developed a vacuum lifter with a telescopic traverse for adjusting the suction cup distance to the different panel lengths.
In order to be able to mount the panel on an arch, a height-adjustable suspension of the suction cups was developed to be positioned at the end of the device. This permits the curve of the panel to be determined and set per length.
For ease of operation, the device is fitted with a dual vacuum system, whereby the use of extra safety straps is not necessary and the controls have a wireless remote control.
For transporting the vacuum lifter, a special frame is provided with extra support for the long traverse, so that the machine can be transported easily from one project to another.
